Professional Hub

Supporting thoughtful, reflective and developmentally informed clinical practice.

Several psychologists at Melbourne Children’s Psychology Clinic (MCPC) are AHPRA Board-Approved Supervisors with endorsement in Clinical Psychology and/or Educational & Developmental Psychology.

We provide supervision to:

  • Psychologists in AHPRA training pathways

  • Psychologists completing endorsement (Registrar) programs

  • Higher Degree trainees & placement students

  • Fully registered psychologists seeking ongoing supervision or reflective practice

  • Clinicians working in CAMHS, paediatrics, schools, community settings or private practice

Our supervision approach is collaborative, reflective and supportive. We focus on curiosity, clinical thinking, self-awareness and sustainable practice — not performance or correction.

Our Clinical Approach

At MCPC, clinical work is grounded in developmental understanding and a neuro-affirming, strengths-based lens. We value respectful collaboration with families and thoughtful formulation over quick conclusions.

Clinicians within our practice work with children, adolescents and families using approaches that are evidence-based, flexible and responsive to individual context. There is room for different therapeutic styles, while maintaining a shared commitment to ethical, reflective and developmentally informed practice.

Our community values curiosity over certainty, connection over isolation, and thoughtful care over intensity or urgency.

The Spaces

Our Hampton and Ivanhoe clinics are purpose-designed for work with children, young people and families.

Consulting rooms are thoughtfully designed to feel calm and welcoming, with comfortable furnishings, adjustable lighting and access to developmentally appropriate resources. Shared spaces — including waiting areas and kitchen facilities — are practical, well-maintained and conducive to both quiet reflection and informal connection between colleagues.

The intention is to create a setting that supports both clients and clinicians.

Group & Family Room (Ivanhoe)

In addition to standard suites, Ivanhoe includes a spacious room suitable for:

  • Parent sessions

  • Small groups

  • Professional consultation or reflective practice

  • Workshops or team meetings

We are happy to adapt room setup to suit your clinical style.

Shared Amenities

  • Warm reception greeting for clients

  • Bright, comfortable waiting spaces

  • Secure smart-lock access with individual practitioner codes

  • Kitchen (kettle, microwave, fridge, coffee machine, tea/milk/biscuits)

  • Shared bathroom access

  • Wi-Fi throughout

  • Access to sand tray, children’s table and chairs, and portable testing table

Designed by psychologists, for psychologists — practical, thoughtful, steady.

How We Work

Professional Connection

Independent practice does not have to mean professional isolation.

The Hub offers opportunities for informal connection, shared discussion and reflective conversation with other clinicians working in similar areas. While there is no expectation of mandatory participation, the environment encourages collegiality, knowledge sharing and cross-referral where appropriate.

No pressure. No hierarchy.
Just a gentle, collaborative clinical culture.

Ways of Working With Us

Psychologists at MCPC work in ways that suit their practice style, goals and stage.

We offer:
• Employee roles – for those seeking stability, team connection and clinical support
• Independent / associate arrangements – for those wanting flexibility and autonomy with collegial connection

We discuss these options openly to find the right fit for you.

Our priority is supporting your work to feel sustainable, meaningful and well-held.

Who This Suits

This space is well suited to psychologists who:

  • Work with children, adolescents, young adults or parents

  • Value reflective, relational and developmentally-sensitive practice

  • Prefer autonomy supported by community

  • Appreciate an environment that is calm, grounded and genuinely collaborative

Whether you are experienced in private practice or transitioning from CAMHS, paediatrics, school settings or NGO contexts — we support a gradual, thoughtful transition.

Take the Next Step

The best way to get a feel for MCPC is to visit the space and talk with us about your preferred way of working.

We look forward to speaking with you!
