Molly Young

Bachelor of Psychology (Honours), Master of Professional Psychology
Psychologist

Molly is a registered psychologist who is passionate about supporting young people and their families to understand their mental health and wellbeing and to work through the difficulties they are experiencing. She has experience in private practice in Australia, public mental health services in the United Kingdom, and within Australian educational settings. Molly works with young people from any age. She particularly enjoys working with young people experiencing anxiety disorders, including generalised anxiety, phobias, and obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). Molly also works with presentations including low mood, self-harm, suicidal ideation, trauma, and difficulties with stress management, confidence, and self-esteem. Molly has great experience of working with neurodivergent young people, including those who are autistic or who have ADHD.

Molly brings a neuroaffirming, trauma-informed, culturally safe, and client-centred approach to her work, ensuring sessions and intervention are tailored to the young person and their needs. It is imperative that young people feel heard, understood, and supported within a safe and warm clinic space, in order for them to feel comfortable to engage in intervention. Molly incorporates a range of evidence based therapies, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), and Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP). While we work on presenting difficulties, it is important that we continue to consider the young person's strengths as well as their challenges, and Molly works to bring warmth, compassion, curiosity, and creativity into therapy to support young people to develop their confidence, understanding, and skills.

In addition to therapeutic intervention, Molly is passionate about conducting psychological assessments for children and adolescents in order for young people and families to better understand themselves and their needs and to consider further appropriate supports. Molly is experienced in administering and assessing for cognitive difficulties (including Intellectual Disability), psychoeducational difficulties (including Specific Learning Disorders), and neurodevelopmental diagnoses (including Autism and ADHD).

Molly is passionate about supporting young people to develop their understanding of themselves and their mental health, and to empower them to learn and use skills and techniques to support themselves in their everyday life, creating positive change and supporting young people to meet their goals.
