Ella Banfield

B.Psych.(Hons.)
Clinical Psychology Registrar
Registration Number: PSY0002177353

Ella is a registered psychologist completing her clinical registrar year, committed to providing holistic and collaborative care for children, adolescents, and families. She has experience supporting young people across both primary and secondary school settings, working with a wide range of emotional and behavioural concerns, including anxiety, low mood, friendship and attachment difficulties, school-related stress, selective mutism, and neurodivergent presentations such as Autism and ADHD. Her work encompasses individual, parent and family support.

Ella adopts a person-centred, strengths-based approach, taking the time to understand each child’s unique experiences, relationships, and environment. Ella draws on evidence-based therapies including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), and play-based therapy, tailoring her interventions to each young person’s needs and goals.

In addition to therapeutic support, Ella has a strong interest in psychological assessment. She is skilled in conducting cognitive and academic assessments for children and teens, helping to identify learning strengths and areas where additional support may be beneficial at school or home.

Ella believes that effective care is best achieved through collaboration, involving families, schools, and other key supports. She approaches her work with curiosity, compassion, and a non-judgmental stance, fostering a safe and welcoming environment where clients feel comfortable exploring their thoughts, emotions, and experiences. Ella works alongside families to build coping skills, confidence, resilience, and a strong sense of self, supporting each client to thrive in all areas of their lives.
