Dr Anne Haritos

B.A., B.Sc. (Hons), D.Psych. (Clinical), M.A.P.S.
Senior Clinical Psychologist
Registration No. PSY0001125740

Dr. Haritos has worked in a range of clinical settings including: The Royal Children’s Hospital Psychology Department; The Royal Children’s Hospital Mental Health Service; and The Alfred Child & Adolescent Mental Health Service.

Dr. Haritos has experience in treating social, emotional and behavioural difficulties in primary school aged children and is trained in the Positive Parenting Program (Triple P) – an Australian developed and evidenced based behavioural program that promotes positive behavioural change in children. Dr Haritos also has experience in child and family court proceedings and works systemically for the best interests of the child post parental separation.

Dr Haritos has the ability to make authentic connections and has worked successfully with adolescents and young adults for many years. She uses evidence based treatment to assist young people to enhance confidence and to manage peer relationships, family relationships and emotional regulation issues (including self harm and eating disorders), and identity formation. She has co-facilitated a mindfulness based emotional regulation group for younger and older adolescents.

She has a special interest in working with children suffering trichotillomania (and other body repetitive behavioural habits) and is a senior clinician in the Hair Pulling Clinic at MCPC.

Dr. Haritos’ doctoral thesis examined the development, course and predictors of internalising difficulties (e.g., sadness, depression, anxiety and withdrawal) and externalising behaviours (e.g., aggressive, oppositional, defiant and disruptive) in children and adolescents with Type 1 diabetes. Hence, adjustment to chronic illness is an area of particular interest and expertise.
